20071026 - Bangkok 3 - Shopping

Shopping - always a pleasant thing, haha.....
Especially in shopping heaven like Bangkok.
Regret for few things which I didnt buy or didnt buy enough :p
Those Siamese are quite creative leh, GENG!!!

Made of sheet wood and paper

Deer made from string

Buddha pendants & amulets, sold by the road side

Cool man, sling bags in shape of canvas shoes

Anyone know that actually FCUK has a wide range of body care and skincare products??
http://www.basenotes.net/brands/fcukgrooming.html
I was kinda surprised too, so bought a cleanser and try try.
Not pricey at all, quite nice though, only 280 baht.
Those two bottles in the middle is body scrub (Yogurt and Sea Mineral), not yet tried, hehe...
Special Colgate orh.....with cooling crystal (the shining light green flakes)

Body care and skincare

Salt & Pepper shakers

Souvenirs - Decorative items and key chain

Clothes. Love the one on right made of raw cotton

Thailand, as famous for its flesh trade, which contributes a large amount of the country's annual income.
Siamese are generally quite open minded and able to accept transsexual, transvestite or homosexual easier.
During our stay in bangkok, we passed-by many transvestites. Be it in shopping complex or walking by the road.
More shocking is when we saw a teenage, feminine looking schoolboy holding his BF's hand shopping. (actually both are quite good looking, haha...)

20071026 - Bangkok 2 - Cuisine

During my stay in Bangkok, it's impossible for me to resist the Thai cuisine.
Luckily didnt gain pound, haha.....
Missed out some coz I didnt bring camera with me for the first day.

Deep fried pork

Sort of "har kow" and "chee cheong fun".

BBQ banana

Nooddi chain restaurantwhich serves great noodles.
All kind of noodels are available. You name it :p

Wow!!! Nice nice.
Must try the homemade Thai iced-tea ice-cream

Freshly squeezed Thai orange. Sweet enough without syrup.

Pop ice. Guess wat... only 2 baht each.

Yiaks....saw this in Chatuchak market. *puke*

Went to Taling Chan floating market.
Think this is not the most famous floating market, doesnt look like it as well.
A waste of money and time :p

Taling Chan floating market.

Visited Chatuchak market and had lunch there.
Thai cuisine - always our favourite.
Simply cant resist the spicy and sour taste
One thing we noticed is - Siamese eat more dishes than rice/meehun.

Meehun, served separately.

Sticky rice, served separately as well.

Ordered 0ne special dish that i never tried before, Crispy Catfish Kerabu (Yam Pla Dook Foo).
Highly recommended, hehe.....

20071026 - Bangkok 1 - Sight Seeing

Was away from town for 3 days from 26th Oct til 28th Oct 2007.
This time was a short visit to the capital of Thailand - Bangkok.
Short, yet quite packed and interesting, memorable.
Imagine a trip full of Thai traditional massage , foot massage, shopping, Thai cuisine, temples, Chao Phraya River, tuk-tuk.....
There are soo many things to experience in Bangkok.
If have chance and right "kaki", definitely will go for a longer stay, hehe....

First thing you'll see is the new airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport (pronounced Su-wan-na-poom).
The airport is really modern looking and clean.
But heard there are some problems with the land it sits on, which was previously swamp area thus prone to flooding and cracks were found on taxiway during inspection (OMG!!!)

Anyway... have reached home safely, hehe.....
Let's see some photos

For Siamese culture, they treat their king like God.
You can see mural like this everywhere.

Wat Phra Kaew, one of the most famous temple in Bangkok, which houses the Emerald Buddha.
So wasted din get to enter, as I was wearing bermuda shorts.
So guys, if u plan to visit Wat Phra Kaew, remember to wear long pants and t-shirt/shirt with sleeves.

Wat Phra Kaew - Can only see it from far :~(

Wat Phra Kaew as background - looking disappointed and "beh syiok"

City Pillar Shrine (San Lak Muang)

A gigantic gold plated Reclining Buddha in Wat Pho, the largest temple in Bangkok.
The buddha measures at 46m long.

Wat Pho - Reclining Buddha

I look so petite in front of the Reclining Buddha :p

Next spot is Wat Arun - Temple of the Dawn
Best known for a porcelain encrusted 79 meter central pagoda (phra prang) which sparkles in the sun, situated opposite the Wat Pho, on the other side of Chao Phraya river.

Took a boat to get to Wat Arun

Wat Arun - Taken on the boat

Quite challenging to climb up the pagoda.
Steps are extremely steep and narrow.

Statues on the pagoda

Wat Arun behind me

Below are photos of Wat Arun i found online.
Soo.... nice.

Having breakfast in hotel

Took a photo in hotel before leaving for KL

Saw something interesting in Bangkok.
